Boz Temple-Morris, Director

Following are a few biographical details from his career in arts and business.

After gaining a degree in English and Drama from Goldsmiths College and having trained and worked for a few years as an actor, Boz launched a tobacco company in 1993. Death Cigarettes was one of the most talked about products of the decade and an astonishing story of marketing and business innovation. Starting an honest tobacco company that communicated the dangers of smoking, whilst defending individual freedom and giving a portion of the profit to cancer research seemed a good idea.

Others disagreed. Whilst the company grew to become a PLC and a national phenomenon, it existed within in a maelstrom of publicity and constant attempts by the tobacco industry, anti smoking movement and Governments to derail the project. By 1996 Boz and two co directors were fighting a court case with twelve governments, the European Commission, HM Customs and Imperial Tobacco. It’ s a long story...

Returning to theatre, Boz became joint artistic director of primitive science, a maker of highly visual and innovative theatre. The company went on to become an award winning arts organisation whose work was acclaimed both in the UK and internationally, being commissioned by theatres and festivals all over the world.

Boz has also worked extensively as a freelancer in brand communication, organisational development projects, as a speaker at conferences and events and as a workshop facilitator in both business and drama training contexts.

As a director, producer or consultant Boz is equally prolific in the worlds of arts and business.
