Gladys first met Boz in 1996 when, after a bewildering episode of mistaken identity involving an aquaphobic sailor, a soon-to-be-lame Afghan hound and an Adler Typewriter, she attempted to kill him. Fortunately the episode passed with mostly reversible consequences for everyone except Scud, the dog. Whether she ever found the sailor or not we cannot say but she was unsure of what to do with her PHD in the True Colour of Rainbows and accepted the offer of a job. The modest success enjoyed by primitive science was due almost entirely to her prodigious skills but in 1999, after visiting ‘The Museum Of’ on London’s South Bank, she fell into a drinking bout of heroic proportions that resulted in the loss of every left shoe that she owned. But for a few quaint ideosyncracies, she is now at the peak of her skills once more. She resides (in a state of near constant shyness) in SW2.
